Wetherill Featured in Bucket List Art Show
MAY 1, 2024
Wilmington, NC – Lower Cape Fear LifeCare (LCFL) is hosting a very special bucket list solo art show of the work of hospice patient Tavish Wetherill. Excitement and Enthusiasm: Tavish Wetherill’s Art and Ambition will be Tuesday, May 8, from 5-7 p.m. at CFCC Alston W. Burke Center, located at 621 State Hwy 210 E., Hampstead, NC. Light refreshments will be served.
Tavish Wetherill’s passion for creating art was evident at an early age. Looking around the 23-year-old Surf City native’s home, there are paint-stained boxes full of old drawings, stacks of canvases, jars of pencil and pencils found stuffed in the corners of rooms as a testament to his ever-present passion.
As a young artist, Wetherill had a fondness for creating pencil drawings, with Zombies and monsters being a reoccurring theme. As he grew, Wetherill also found great inspiration in the world around him, including movies, books and conversations with friends. He voraciously devoured stacks of printer paper, turning them into works of art. It was impossible not to notice Tavish’s talent and imagination.
In ninth grade, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. A two-year battle ensued for Wetherill to regain brain/motor control function completely because of catastrophic complications from his treatment. Even after he was once again able to hold a pencil, it was a struggle to control it. Learning to adapt to the challenges his illness presented, Tavish persevered while exploring new themes and techniques to express himself through his art.
Join us in honoring and celebrating Tavish Wetherill’s creative journey by experiencing his talent and creations during this special solo art show.
