Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Tributes
To honor and recognize the cherished memories of someone you love, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare has created a remembrance at each of its hospice care centers. Each tribute plaque has a name etched and permanently installed through a gift, or combination of gifts totaling $1,000 or more.
Veterans Memorial Garden – planned for Heritage and Brunswick Gardens
We are creating a place in our Heritage Garden specifically to honor veterans. Our Veterans Memorial is an especially fitting tribute and reflects our commitment, as a Level 4 partner in the We Honor Veterans Program, to those who served.
Different tribute opportunities fill the memorial garden, including star markers on the base of the eagle, stepping stones along the garden pathway, garden benches, and flags representing our country, our state and the different branches of the armed services. The centerpiece of the Veterans Memorial will be an eagle sculpture commissioned by local artist Dumay Gorham.

Continuum Tribute Wall in the Heritage Garden in Wilmington, NC
The Continuum Tribute Wall, located in our Heritage Garden on the Wilmington campus, was designed by Toby Keeton and Michael Kersting at Kersting Architecture. The structure is meant to reflect how the individual journeys of our lives leave an indelible mark on the world—as with nature, our journeys ebb and flow.
Butterfly Pavilion in the Children’s Memorial Garden in Wilmington, NC
Three different size butterflies, sculpted by local artist Dumay Gorham, float under the roof of the pavilion above a chrysalis sculpture in the middle of the Children’s Memorial Garden. Butterflies are a symbol of rebirth and transformation. The life cycle of a butterfly is marked by change; each stage – egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult – is radically different from what comes before. These butterflies remind us of the ever-changing stages of our lives.

Together we can make a difference
We are the regional hospice of choice for thousands of patients. We are a nonprofit hospice, meaning we help everyone regardless of their ability to pay. This is only possible through the generous donations from people like you.
Funding goes to help us provide grief support, hospice and palliative care, capital needs, spiritual care and special programs for veterans.
